SHILLONG: The State Congress has expressed solidarity with party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi who had to appear before the court in the National Herald case in Delhi on Saturday.
In a meeting attended by MLAs and MDCs among others at the Congress Bhawan here on Saturday, the party members expressed solidarity and support to Sonia and Rahul who had to appear in the Patiala House Court.
The gathering was held as per the direction of MPCC president, DD Lapang.
Addressing the gathering, MPCC vice president A.H. Scott Lyngdoh placed before the members the facts and figures pertaining to the National Herald, Associated Journal Limited and Young India Limited.
He explained how the case was a ‘political vendetta’ by the Government led by Narendra Modi. Lyngdoh also talked about the misinformation campaign going on against Congress party on GST Bill.
He reminded that the National Herald case was reopened though the then Enforcement Director, Rajan Kotch had found the case baseless.
He urged the members to remain united against any onslaught of the Modi-led Government that may come against the party and its leadership.
Later in the day, on hearing about granting unconditional bails to the AICC leaders, PCC president congratulated Sonia and Rahul and hoped that truth would prevail and both of them would get clean chit from the judiciary.
