GUWAHATI: Assam government has decided to provide a comprehensive, cashless medical insurance scheme for the regular government employees, pensioners and their dependants.
This was informed by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a meeting with Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) in the conference room of his office in Assam Secretariat on Tuesday.
The meeting was convened as a sequel to a series of meetings between the Chief Minister and the SAKP to discuss and resolve various issues of the employees and pensioners of the State.
With regard to the arrears of the employees, Chief Minister Gogoi said that the Government would announce before Magh Bihu (by January 14) as to what extent the arrear pay would be disbursed to the employees.
On the demand for bringing pay to the muster roll workers at par with Grade IV employees of the state government, the SAKP was informed that the matter was with the empowered committee constituted for the purpose and the decision would be taken upon the submission of report by the Committee.
Moreover, conceding the demand of the SAKP, Chief Minister Gogoi said that necessary modalities would be completed to declare Kati Bihu (on October 17) as a government holiday.
