SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’Union (KSU), which has been vehemently opposing the idea of bringing railway line to Meghalaya, has decided not to oppose the ongoing rail projects provided that the issue of influx is addressed by the Government.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Thursday, the KSU president, Daniel Khyriem said that the organization was not against bringing railway line to the State.
“We are not against development of the state,” he said adding “but the Government needs to come up with a comprehensive mechanism to check influx.”
While commenting on the priorities of the State Government for 2016, Khyriem said that the Government has a lot to accomplish including setting up of entry/exit points across the State.
“Moreover, even in the education front, a lot needs to be done and the government should also tackle corruption issues plaguing the state,” he said.
