Delay in making GHADC scam, Mookhep reports public

SHILLONG: Opposition NPP has expressed concern over delay in releasing reports of both GHADC scam and Mookhep firing saying that the state government wants to shield those involved in the crime.
“There is no doubt that the previous Council administrations were engaged in corruption and it appears that government is scared to make the report public,” NPP legislator James Sangma said on Saturday.
It was on December, 29, 2012, that the judicial inquiry commission headed by Justice (retd) PG Agarwal submitted its report to the government after probing the alleged financial irregularities and illegal appointments in the GHADC.
Even after three years, the state government is still examining the report.
However, the NPP leader said that the government should take punitive action as per the findings of the judicial inquiry report against those involved in the scam.
As far as the Mookhep firing probe is concerned, the NPP legislator said that two lives were lost in the firing, yet government has delayed in taking action against the perpetrators of the crime.
The recent response of the state government was that the higher-ups were still examining the report submitted by senior government official DP Wahlang a few months ago.
“The government is interested in lip’s service and the delay tactics has resulted in people losing faith in the government”, Sangma said.
