SHILLONG: The report of the potential sugar scam that was unearthed by the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Mawsynram Circle is still awaited.
This was informed by P.S Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner on Monday. He however indicated that some mischievous people might be behind the fraud. Earlier, Dkhar had assured that the probe report would be ready within ten days of ordering the inquiry.
“It is not a one-time release of stock as a single wholesaler cannot acquire 5000 pouches and later throw them in another area”, he said.
Meanwhile, replying to a query that some villagers are ostracized by the village heads and some are deprived of the benefits of Public Distribution System (PDS), he said, “No headman has the right to ostracize  villagers  and to deny them of the PDS benefits, if there is any such case of denial, then the aggrieved villagers should address the matter to the Deputy Commissioner (Supply).”
As far as PDS is concerned, he informed that he will be sending a team to inspect the issue of PDS denial to beneficiaries.
