SHILLONG: Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, General Officer Commanding in Chief Eastern Command arrived on a two-day visit to 101 Area here on Friday.
On arrival at the ALG, the Eastern Army Commander was received by Lieutenant General SP Nawathe, GOC 101 Area. During his visit to Headquarters 101 Area, the Army Commander was given a detailed briefing on the operational logistics, preparedness, security status and measures taken by the formation to ensure cyber security. The Army Commander showed particular interest in the welfare of army veterans, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, and others.
He said various administrative steps were taken to improve the quality of life of the soldiers and their dependents. The Army Commander also called on Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan at the Raj Bhavan.
In his interaction, the army commander discussed several issues including the prevailing security situation in Meghalaya and developmental issues pertaining to the region.
