JOWAI: The KSU and HNYF in West Jaintia Hills have demanded that the findings of the probe conducted by the Special Finance Committee headed by JHADC EM in charge Finance, Joinriwel Pyrtuh, be made public at the earliest.
The Finance and Account Department of the JHADC had allegedly misappropriated Rs.63 lakh and suspended two Finance and Account Officers including the FAO B. Sana and Cashier J Chullet in July, 2014 following a report submitted by the Special Finance Committee.
According to sources, the Committee has determined that an amount of Rs.63 lakh was missing from the JHADC fund.
“The people of Jaintia Hills have the right to know the findings of the Special Finance Committee constituted by the JHADC,” KSU leader Nangai Syiem Sutnga said while making the demand.
“The JHADC has only suspended the two officers without any punishment. Stern action should be taken against officers involved in misappropriation of the JHADC fund. They should not be allowed to go scot free and should be punished as per the law,” he added.
