BJP highlights PM’s scheme for farmers

SHILLONG: The national executive members of the BJP on Thursday highlighted the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana which was approved by the Union Cabinet.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the party’s national executive council member, Edmund K. Sangma said it is a “path breaking scheme for farmers’ welfare”.
“Uniform premium of only 2 per cent to be paid by farmers for all kharif crops and 1.5 per cent for all Rabi crops and for annual horticultural crops, the premium paid by farmers will be 5 per cent,” he said adding that the balance premium will be paid by the Government which will also provide full insured amount to the farmers in case of crop loss on account of natural calamities.
Sangma added that there is no upper limit on Government subsidy.
