Mob lynches criminal in Garo Hills

TURA: In another case of the public taking law into their own hands and meting out street justice, angry villagers gave chase to a gang of four criminals in Tikrikilla region and lynched one of the suspects on Wednesday, a delayed report stated.
The four-member gang of criminals had gone to Kentapara village in Tikrikilla region of West Garo Hills when dozens of angry villagers armed with sticks and other lethal weapons chased them.
The mob managed to apprehend one of the suspected gang members identified as Endam N Marak (26) of Sabang Gimberong village and thrashed him until he lost consciousness.
A police team that rushed to the village tried to rescue the victim but he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased is alleged to be involved in a string of dacoity, extortion and kidnapping cases and had reportedly been wanted by authorities.
