Odisha police and women and child development dept rescue 122 children

Bhubaneswar: The Smile two campaign, an effort jointly launched by Odisha police and the women and child development department have rescued 122 children during the past 15 days. A Crime Branch report said here the children so far rescued in the state were either handed over to their legal guardians or sent to child care institutions. One girl child missing from Jammu and Kashmir rescued by Delang Police in Puri District and another child from Madhya Pradesh rescued by Sundargarh Police were handed over to their respective states. The operation which started on January one last would continue till January 31. While in the first phase concluded on January 15 the focus was given to rescue the children inside Odisha in the second phase from January 15 to 31 the focus will be on outside the state. As many as ten police teams along with representatives from Women and Child Development Department have already left for different destination states such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to find out the missing children. Advanced liasoning with the Police and Women and Child Development department has already been made for the success of the operation, Crime Branch sources here said.  (UNI)
