Govt pleader dies in road accident

TURA: Former public prosecutor of the Tura Fast Track Court and Meghalaya Government pleader P L Sebastian (66) was killed in a road accident after a Tata Dicor Ace mini truck (AS25 Ac 5738) collided head on with his vehicle (DL 9C D-9126)  near Rajapara on Thursday afternoon.
The wife of Sebastian, Marina R Marak, who also happens to be the headmistress of Casarina Public School in Tura, sustained multiple fractures and has been admitted to Narayana hospital ( in Amingaon, Guwahati.
The couple had gone to Guwahati to purchase stationary items for their school in Tura, a day earlier.
The incident took place a little beyond Rajapara near a bridge on National Highway 37 in the direction of Duphdhara.
The driver of the mini truck abandoned his vehicle after the collision and fled leaving behind the seriously injured couple. Although the injured couple were rushed to Boko community health centre for treatment, Sebastian was brought dead. His body is to be taken from Boko to Guwahati Medical College for a post mortem on Friday morning after which it will be brought to Tura for the last rites.
An FIR has been lodged by the family members of the deceased against the absconding driver.
