SHILLONG: The Nongiew Association has asked the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to tackle the problem of influx at Bara Bazaar (Iewduh) and warned that if the KHADC remained silent on the issue they will take the matter into their own hands.
Members of the association met KHADC Chief Executive Member P.N. Syiem who assured them that that he will direct Executive Member in charge of market, James Sylliang, to look into the matter.
Korbar L Nonglait, president of the association, while speaking to reporters said mushrooming of illegal immigrants is a cause of concern and the people do not possess valid documents as well.
The association also alleged that Hima Mylliem was slack on the issue which has complicated the problem.
