Mizoram, Punjab bag top honours in Judo test event

Shillong: Mizoram won the women’s event at the National Judo Team Championship here on Wednesday, with Punjab picking up the men’s gold.
The championship was organised by the Judo Federation of India and Meghalaya Judo Association and was a test event for next month’s 12th South Asian Games 2016.
Around 100 judokas from across the country took part in the championship, which was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Sports Hall.
Mizoram defeated Haryana in a close women’s team final, with Manipur grabbing the bronze. Punjab then overwhelmed Delhi in the men’s final, with Haryana finishing third.
South Asian Games  (Shillong) CEO RK Sharma presented the trophies to the respective first and second teams.
