SHILLONG: The principal Secretary of the General Administration Department, P.W. Ingty has submitted at the bar that steps had already been taken for Cabinet approval for framing rules for extending protocol facilities to Judges and retired Judges and it may take about twenty days more for finalizing the rules.
As per the order of the High Court of Meghalaya on January 13, P.W. Ingty appeared in person before the High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday.
The Court order said that in the meeting of the High Court and the Government of Meghalaya on December 15, a decision had been taken to effect that protocol facilities are extended to Judges and retired Judges  as per the letter of the Government in the form of rules.
Ingty, Principal Secretary, GAD, had participated in the meeting and while  appearing before the Court stated  that a letter had been circulated to all the Resident Commissioners for extending  protocol facilities to the Judges and retired Judges of the High Court.
After appraising the difference between a letter and an order to Ingty, the official undertook  to issue in the form of order of the Government of Meghalaya for providing the protocol facilities for both the sitting Judges and the retired Judges while framing the rules for protocol facilities of both the sitting and retired Judges.
Ingty also stated that the protocol facilities provided to the retired Judges of Sikkim mentioned in the order Court order on January 13 shall be incorporated in the rules being framed by the Government of Meghalaya.
Due to the peculiar circumstances of this case, Ingty, as directed by  court will remain present before the court on February 26.
