SHILLONG: Police are on the hunt for the accused involved in alleged molestation and killing of a minor girl and causing injury to her younger brother at Jorabat in Ri Bhoi on Wednesday morning.
Police said on Thursday that they have received information that the accused had fled to Guwahati.
It was on Wednesday morning, that the male servant identified as Bhaiti killed the 10-year-old girl, and caused injuries to her 9-year-old brother identified as Bipul Rai at their residence at Jorabat.
Police said that the servant initially tried to molest the girl and when her brother came to her rescue, the accused killed the victim with a dagger and inflicted injuries on the young boy as well.
The body of the girl was shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post mortem and the injured was removed to a hospital at Sonapur, Assam.
Though the accused is absconding, assistance of Assam police will be sought to arrest him, a Meghalaya police official said.
