Hima Mylliem refutes land allotment allegations

SHILLONG: The deputy Syiem of Hima Mylliem has refuted claims that plots of land were allotted to some Churches at Mawpat forest by the traditional body.
Deputy Syiem, Thwelson Manik Syiem said that there are no records relating to the land allotment for graveyard at Mawpat except for the ones revealed by RTI findings and the documents are currently at the office of the Hima.
Speaking to reporters after the executive meeting of the Dorbar, Syiem said that names of some of the buyers and sellers of the Mawpat graveyard are recorded in the RTI.
He said he has no knowledge about people involved in the purchase of the land.
He also informed that the next executive meeting of the dorbar will be held on February 18 to probe as to who were the beneficiaries of the land allotment.
Commenting on the lease of Iewduh from 2022, Myntri S Lyngdoh Nongbsap said that no such decision has been taken.
Reacting to a query on the alleged financial misappropriation by the Syiem of Hima  Mylliem, the Deputy Syiem said that he has no knowledge of any such anomaly and said that Myntri M B Kharlukhi, in charge of finance has been directed to examine the matter.
