Election dept awaits reply from EC on dual post

SHILLONG: The State Election department is yet to get any intimation from the Election Commission of India on the dual post issue, which was referred by the Meghalaya Governor to the Commission.
Additional State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) W Khyllep told reporters on Monday that the department was yet to get any information regarding the matter.  Earlier, the former Chief Electoral Officer P Naik had written to Election Commission for an early reply on whether 8 legislators who were holding the posts of MDC will fall under disqualification.
The High Court is waiting for the reply from Election Commission of India to take a decision on the pending PIL on dual post.   Earlierm, during the MPCC meeting, president DD Lapang said that it was up to the AICC to take a decision on dual post issue concerning the KHADC CEM, PN Syiem.
