SHILLONG: The State Government was issued a notice by the High Court of Meghalaya after a petition was filed by an East Garo Hills policeman who is under suspension and was asked to vacate the official quarter.
The counsel submitted that the petitioner’s children are appearing for examinations scheduled from February 9 and prayed that necessary direction may be given.
The Court issued notice to the Government to show cause as to why this instant petition should not be considered and the Government has been asked to submit the report within three months.
The petitioner’s counsel, meanwhile, was directed to obtain instruction from his client on whether he is ready to vacate the quarter after completion of the examination of his children. The matter has been listed after three weeks for counter affidavit and further order.
Meanwhile, another petition was submitted before the Court by stating that the petitioner’s children are going to sit for examinations scheduled from February 9.
In this regard, the High Court directed the Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills District, Williamnagar not to disturb the petitioner or his children till completion of their exam without due process of law.
The matter was also disposed of.
