SHILLONG: BSNL Meghalaya has opened a new telephone exchange of 1000 lines capacity at Laitumkhrah on Monday which will cater to the areas in and around Laitumkhrah and the exchange is commissioned at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore.
Speaking at the function, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister Urban Affairs urged the telephone company to come up with a good proposal to maintain proper channel as the roads are dilapidated with the frequent digging as a means to improve services of networking in the city.
“The residents will have to negotiate through the roads they are treading upon if the roads are not repaired in time,” Lyngdoh said.
KK Saxena, Chief General Manager, BSNL, NE-1 Circle, Shillong has assured to look into the problem caused by digging channels.
With the opening of new telephone exchange BSNL boosts of providing better broadband and landline services at Laitumkhrah Police point, Laitumkhrah Market area, beat house, Arbuthnot Road, Bhagyakul, New Colony, Lawmawrie, NEEPCO, for providing land line, broad band & lease line connection.
The company has informed during the month of February and March 2016 it will provide new landline and broadband connections without any installation charges.
