Government contemplates alternative road to Shillong Peak

SHILLONG:  As precautionary measures, the Indian Air Force has restricted the entry of people in its area which leads to Shillong Peak, the State Government now has decided to expedite the process of constructing an alternative road leading to the tourist spot.
Sources informed that the  PWD has  decided to go  ahead with the land acquisition process and necessary  clearance from the forest department. And if no problem arises in the land acquisitionand clearances, the construction work for the road may start from the next working season.
It is learnt that a meeting was held recently where the Government decided to expedite the process of constructing an alternative road to Shillong peak after the Indian Air Force restricted the movement of the people post terrorist attack on the Air Force Base at Pathankot.
