SHILLONG: The state government has sent feelers to initiate talks with the GNLA militants, an official source said on Monday.
The source said that during the last meeting of the Home Minister Roshan Warjri with the Union  Home Minister Rajnath Singh last year, the issue of talks with GNLA and other militant groups was raised.
The source added that the stand of the Union Home Minister was clear that the state can go ahead inviting the militant outfits for talks.
Following this, the state government has sent feelers to GNLA, but the reply from the outfit is awaited, the source added.
Earlier, the state government had sent feelers to HNLC, but the militant outfit is yet to respond to the talks offer.
