SHILLONG: Allegedly made to sit in the spectators’ area during the opening ceremony of the 12th South Asian Games, Sri Lankan Minister of Sports, Dayasiri Jayasekara felt that the organizers in Guwahati should have done better than that. Addressing media persons at the NEHU, SAI Special Area Games on Monday, Jayasekara, who is accompanying the Sri Lankan contingent for the 12th South Asian Games, also lamented that the Lankans were made to wait for hours at the Guwahati airport for clearance. Jayasekara, however, lauded Shillong for being more professional in its approach and handling the Games in a better and organised manner when compared to Guwahati. “Shillong has planned the Games well. I congratulate the Chief Minister, the Sports Minister and their team for the efforts,” Jayasekara said. The visiting dignitary was also happy with Lanka’s performance in the multinational event so far. “We look to give stiff competition to the mighty Indians,” said Jayasekara with a smile
