KHNAM slams Govt, ministers
SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has criticized the State government’s move to hastily table bills including the dual posts bill and the amendment to the Meghalaya Services Conduct Rules, 1990. At the same time, the party has slammed the ministers for not speaking out against the chief minister over fears that he may ‘unseat’ them. In a statement to the media on Monday, the party said the ministers should express their discontent and call for removal of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.

Miscreants torch house in EJ Hills
SHILLONG: Unknown miscreants attempted to torch the house of a woman at Lad Sutnga in East Jaintia Hills on February 5. The house, belonging to Mary Mestica Dkhar, was partially damaged in the incident. Police said they are investigating into the matter and have got some leads.

Rider dies in freak mishap
SHILLONG: A motorcycle rider died on the spot after his two-wheeler (ML10B-1693) dashed against an electric post at 12th Mile, Byrnihat, in Ri Bhoi, on Sunday. The victim was identified as Thandan Kumar (20).

One held for attempt to murder
SHILLONG: Police have arrested one Ister Snaitang for stabbing another person identified as Lawanbok Shangdiar at Mawkyrwat market on Monday. The injured person was brought to Shillong for treatment.

Woman injured in road mishap
SHILLONG: A woman was injured after the vehicle she was driving (ML-08D-9010) capsized at Laitkor on Sunday evening). She was taken to hospital for treatment.
