SHILLONG: The KHADC is all set to usher in the second edition of Monolith Festival from March 31 to April 2 to celebrate Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage at the Khasi Heritage Village, Mawphlang.
Informing this on Tuesday, KHADC CEM, PN Syiem said two troupes each will be invited to participate in the event from Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills through Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) respectively.
Another feature of the festival is the invitation to the Aborigines of Australia, the KHADC EM, Neil Antonio War, who is the Chairman Khasi Heritage Conservation Forum (KHCF) informed.
He said the added attraction will be the re-establishment of various indigenous games other than archery which will be under the supervision of Sumar Sing Sawian.
KHCF members have been given the responsibility to supervise the event.
KHCF chairman War said, “This time the Monolith Festival is going to be a unique one as it will not be only about showcasing our culture, but we desire it to be of educational interest and we have decided to conduct workshops and seminars for school and college students, and a formal invitation has been given to educational institutions.”
