Chief Minister to address job seekers
SHILLONG: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma will be addressing the youth and job aspirants, self employed and skilled participants in Phulbari on February 18 as part of a massive awareness and outreach programme for the Army Recruitment Rally to be held in Tura in the month of April and the massive police recruitment rally that shall be organized in the following months.
The event will be organized by the district administration of West Garo Hills under the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Scheme and Chief Minister’s Youth Development Scheme of the Government of Meghalaya.
The recruitment rally for Army shall be organized in Dikki Bandi Stadium, Tura from April 13 to 21 for the posts of Soldier General Duty, Soldier Clerk, Soldier Technical and Soldier Tradesman for all eleven districts of Meghalaya. There is no ceiling or cap in vacancies for the Army Recruitment Rally of the Recruiting Office, Shillong.
All youths who clear the medical, physical and written test which is usually conducted after a month from the rally will qualify. As such it is seen to be a golden opportunity for the youth of the region.
Also, as per preliminary information, there are about 1800 vacancies in Police for the post of Batallion Constables, Armed and Unarmed Branch which will be a windfall of opportunity for the local youth of the State.
The awareness programme in Phulbari targeting participants, youths and parents from Hallidayganj, Rajabala, Bhaitbari, Phulbari, Chibinang, Dadenggre, Selsella, Tikrikilla and Raksamgre will be the launch of the awareness initiative to inform people about the recruitment rallies. Other Blocks shall also conduct awareness programmes in this regard.
Since for the Army recruitment rally – online registration in the website of the Indian Army has been made mandatory – facilitation centres shall be made operational in the Blocks and in the district for youth to enroll. It would also be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister in the course of the programme. All youths will be encouraged to register in the Indian Army website joinindianarmy.nic.in which has been made compulsory and has to be done before April 1 as per advisory .
Buoyed by the scintillating success of the Army Recruitment Rally last year in Tura in April where 100 youths qualified and out of which 64 were from Garo Hills – the Indian Army Recruiting Office in Shillong and district administration is hopeful of mobilizing youth to pursue great careers in the Army or the police.
At the same time the self employed and unemployed youth also shall have an opportunity to understand about the skill development initiatives of the State government through this awareness campaign.
