Sound recordist awarded in film fest

SHILLONG: K. Mark Swer from state received  the best sound recordist award  at the recently concluded Mumbai International Film Festival– 2016.
The award was for Swer’s work in the documentary film ‘Brief Life of Insects’.
The film is part of a series called ‘Songs to Live By’ which was directed by Tarun Bhartiya and produced by the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya and the North East Slow Food and Agro-Biodiversity Society (NESFAS). The 14th Edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) – 2016 held from January 28 to February 3 was organised by the Film Division, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting  in  collaboration  with the Government of Maharashtra and Indian Documentary, short and animation genre at par with International Film Festivals like Leipzig, Berlin, Oberhausen, Cracow and Tampere. In the event, Swer won the award in the national competition section in the category of documentary films (up to 60 minutes) and as  part of the award, apart from receiving the certificate, he also received Rs  1 lakh.
‘Brief Life of Insects’ was one of the eleven films selected in the national competition section of Best Documentary Films (up to 60 minutes).
