Entry and exit points on agenda

SHILLONG: Pro-ILP pressure groups have sought an appointment with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to discuss the progress of the entry and exit points and also to push for early passage of the Meghalaya Benami Prohibition and Detection Bill and the Meghalaya Residential Bill in the upcoming budget session scheduled to begin from March 4.
The pressure groups also want to discuss the exemption clause for the indigenous people of the State in the Meghalaya Residential Bill so that the matter may be taken up in the forthcoming session.
The pressure groups have sought the appointment with the chief minister on the basis of the assurance of the government in the previous meeting that the said bills would be passed in the next budget session.
The pressure groups have appealed to all the legislators to cut across party lines to raise the matter in the Assembly so as to protect the interests of the indigenous people.
