SHILLONG: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) has recently formed a ten member review committee for codification of the Garo Customary Bill, 2009.
Deputy CEM Augustine Marak is the convener of the committee while the members include MDC Dipul Marak, EMs Winnison Marak and Kuros Marak, besides former MDCs, senior citizens, youth leaders and a Nokma.
The committee, in its meeting held on February 17, decided to expand the size of the committee intending to include one representative from each of the Garo tribes speaking 12 different dialects.
In addition, the committee also decided to include well known scholars in the committee.
The committee would also organise a series of programmes for debates and discussion on the issue so that controversial points from the draft bill can be corrected.
