Guwahati: RTI activist Akhil Gogoi today said his peasants’ organisation Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti will campaign against BJP across Assam during the forthcoming Assembly elections.
“In the 2016 Assembly elections, the biggest detrimental force to Assam is RSS-BJP. We will start campaigning against them in each part of the state. We will stop this force by any means,” Gogoi said while addressing a protest march against the Centre’s handling of the JNU incident.
He expressed regret over his decision of requesting the people of Assam to vote the BJP in the last Lok Sabha polls.
“In the last Lok Sabha polls, I asked people to vote BJP to defeat the corrupt Congress government. Today I am ashamed of my that decision. The BJP has done nothing for Assam and has exploited the people of the country,” Gogoi said. He further alleged RSS and BJP were trying to divide the people of the state on communal lines. “We will not allow them to destroy the Assamese society. Modi cannot divide Assam with his danda (stick) as Assamese farmers will not sit silent and will teach them a lesson with their plow and sickle.
“If Narendra Modi instigates people to fight among themselves, then we will not spare him. If ABVP, VHP or RSS come to beat us, we will not be mute spectators and will thrash them,” Gogoi warned.  (PTI)
