SHILLONG: The HYC Nongthymmai circle and its women’s wing met East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar to discuss the inappropriate implementation of the National Food Security Scheme within the jurisdiction of Nongthymmai areas.
The HYC said that the names of many local people were missing from the list, while many of the non-tribals were beneficiaries of the project.
The pressure group urged the district administration and the dorbar to ensure that local people be enrolled to the Scheme within a month.
The organization also said that outsiders should be allowed to enroll as per the 2011 census and the Scheme should not be made available to those who shifted to Nongthymmai recently.
The organization threatened to shut down all the fair price shops if its demands are not met.
