SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has assured Rs 2.5 crore to the cash-stripped GHADC to allow it to pay salary to its staff.
This was informed by GHADC Deputy Chief Executive Member Augustine R. Marak following his meeting with the chief minister and Transport Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh to discuss the issue of release of revenue share from the Transport department.
In a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, Marak said the outcome of the meeting was positive.
“The chief minister has given the assurance to release the share amounting to Rs 2.5 crore immediately for the purpose of staff salary. We have huge amount of dues pending with the Transport department since the last five to six years and we are following up the matter with the concerned department,” Marak said in a statement here.
He hoped that the amount will be released in installments.
