Power supply in city remains disrupted

SHILLONG: Power supply continued to remain disturbed in Shillong for the second consecutive day with several prime localities of the city like Police Bazar, Laitumkhrah, Laban and Jail Road engulfed in darkness since Monday night.Power supply remained non-existent in various parts of the city on Tuesday including the Secretariat.Even Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s briefing with media persons at the Secretariat was affected due to erratic power supply.Students preparing for their Board examinations were the worst affected, having lost precious time in the absence of power supply.When contacted, MeECL officials said work was going on in the second feeder and added that power would be restored by Tuesday night.However, at the time of filing of this report at 10:30 PM on Tuesday, power supply was yet to be restored in the affected areas.
