Timber seized, three arrested in EGH

SHILLONG: Police have arrested three persons in two different incidents of timber smuggling in East Garo Hills and seized over a hundred pieces of timber.
Police said that on February 22 around 3 AM, during vehicle checking at Samanda, Police intercepted one truck (without number plate) and arrested three persons – Robarth M Sangma, Sanjith M Sangma and Hersley Ch Marak – while they were illegally transporting 33 pieces of logs.
In another incident, one Bachon M Sangma was found to have illegally stored timber at Samanda Patrang Rikwagre area in East Garo Hills. 80 pieces of timber were seized.
