Guwahati: The BJP has identified certain key legislative Assembly constituencies in poll-bound Assam, which are represented by key Congress leaders, for high-voltage campaign to put those leaders under pressure so as to restrict their movements during the polls.
For the purpose, the BJP has identified constituencies like Titabor, Amguri, Samaguri, Margherita which are represented by chief minister Tarun Gogoi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta, senior Congress leaders Rakibul Hussain and Pradyut Bardoloi respectively.
A source in the saffron party informed that the purpose of such focused assault (campaign) in some of the constituencies was to keep key Congress leaders confined to their constituencies so that they couldn’t move around the state campaigning during the polls.
All senior BJP leaders including state BJP president and Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior leader Himanta Bishwa Sharma held rallies in Titabor constituency which represented by the CM and Congress stalwart Gogoi, earlier this week to virtually launch the party’s poll campaign in a high decibel.
The saffron party organized a massive rally in Amguri constituency to challenge the APCC president Anjan Dutta there.
Similar, campaign strategy has been devised by Samaguri constituency which is represented by most influential Congress minister Rakibul Hussain who is one of the key campaign strategists of the Congress.
The BJP, in fact, first launched the pin-pointed high-voltage campaign in Samaguri which was followed by similar campaign in Margherita LAC represented by senior Congress leader Pradyut Bardoloi.
