SHILLONG: The work for the truck lay-by near Lad Umroi which was stopped due to the objection of MeECL has resumed.
Sources from PWD said that the department had intended to construct a truck lay-by, but the work was stalled after MeECL objected saying that the land belongs to them.
However, sources said that the matter was reviewed by the Chief Secretary and the documents of the land were shown substantiating the claims of PWD that the land belongs to them.
However, there is one small portion where the confusion still prevails about the ownership of the land   and a joint investigation by MeECL and PWD is likely to be conducted this week to sort out the confusion.
PWD has begun the work this year with an idea to construct truck lay-by even though officials  admitted that  now since only few trucks come towards Shillong, the truck lay-by could have been used  by tourists to get a glimpse of the crystal clear water of Umiam reservoir.
