Financial assistance to poor

SHILLONG: The Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee (MCIC), 19th South Shillong Constituency, has extended financial assistance to 250 identified poorest of the poor BPL families.
The families, comprising widows, single mothers or domestic  workers, were given Rs 2000 each as support towards the school expenses of their children.
A total amount of Rs 5 lakh was spent for this cause, funded by its MCIC chairman cum MLA Sanbor Shullai from his five-month salary earnings as MLA, a statement said here.
