SHILLONG: Shillong Police has arrested one person for assaulting a cabbie and robbing him Rs 6000.
SP M kharkrang said that the incident happened on February 11 two persons boarded the local taxi (ML05K-6283) driven by one Bentorious Sohshang from Mawlonghat. On reaching an isolated place at Umsawli near IIM, the duo assaulted the taxi driver and took away Rs 6000, car tape and a mobile phone from him.
Personnel from Lumdiengjri police station on Friday nabbed Iainehskhem Wanniang, resident of Mawiong from Jeep stand Qualapatty in this regard. Wanniang’s accomplice, Ribalson Kharbihkhiew, also a hard core criminal, is still absconding. The police have urged anyone having knowledge of his whereabouts to contact I/C Mawdiangdiang at 9615539847.
