Guwahati: Less than a fortnight after question paper of state board-conducted class XII Physics examination was leaked, the question paper for Botany of the same examination found its way into hands of students before the date of exam in Assam on Monday.
Though the question paper for Botany is not identical to the one set by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) for the examination slated for Tuesday, the Council has decided to scrap tomorrow’s examination.
“Though the leaked paper is not identical, but the questions bear much similarity to the AHSEC set paper. Hence, we have decided to postpone the Botany examination and it will now be held on Macy 19 next,” an AHSEC spokesperson said here.
He added that an inquiry will be conducted if there was any leak of question paper or how such a similar paper made it to the public domain.
Earlier, the AHSEC had to postpone its Physics examination to March 17 after the question paper was leaked hours before start of examination on February 24 last. Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi had ordered a “high level” inquiry into the incident. The physics examination will now be held on March 17 from 9am
The matriculation examination, conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam, has also been mired in controversy after over 12000 answer scripts were burnt in a fire in a school in Jorhat. It has not been decided on how marks would be awarded against the burnt answer scripts or whether fresh examinations will be held.
