Marbaniang chargesheet
SHILLONG: The aggrieved party is set to challenge the chargesheet filed by police in the Nongpoh Court on the suicide angle of late police officer PJ Marbaniang after the matter was heard on Tuesday by the Division Bench of High Court of Meghalaya.
The High Court could not proceed with the case as the Counsel N. Syngkon on behalf of the petitioner Dorothy Marbaniang, mother of the police officer, was absent during the hearing held on Tuesday. The case has been listed for March 22.It was on January 24 night that, Marbaniang, the SI of Patharkhmah police outpost was found with bullet injuries on his head, a day after he detained as many as 32 trucks.
The Special Investigation Team charge sheeted the case and arrested a few persons for ‘abetting the suicide of a police officer’ which, however, was rejected by the mother of the victim.
