SHILLONG: In a surprising observation, the All Meghalaya Commercial Truck Owners’ and Operators’ Association has alleged that the operation of NHAI toll gate on the Umiam Jorabat Expressway was illegal since the NHAI was a ‘non tribal’ company trading in the District Council territory without a valid license.
Urging the KHADC to stop operation of the toll gate in Ri Bhoi, president of the Association, Augustine Shanpru, claimed the NHAI was violating the order of the Supreme Court as it was collecting toll despite the fact that the Expressway was yet to be completed.
