Naik to head Rules Revision panel

SHILLONG: Former Additional Chief Secretary, P Naik will head the Administrative Rules, Regulation, Revision Advisory Committee, which was approved by the Cabinet recently. Former Principal Secretary P Kharkongor is the lone member of the Committee which will examine various rules framed since the formation of the State.
When contacted on Thursday, Naik said that the purpose of the formation of the Committee is to modify rules wherever necessary and also to reexamine obsolete rules.
The priority of the Committee, which will also advise the government on various aspects of existing rules, will be to examine the financial rules first.
Both Naik and Kharkongor will avail facilities admissible to the ranks of Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary respectively.
Award for traffic personnel
Meanwhile, Naik said that he would provide cash award annually for the best traffic personnel in the state from his pension fund. He has also decided to provide cash award to meritorious students or persons from any other field who are in need of financial assistance.
