SHILLONG: “The State Government cannot interfere in the administration of autonomous district councils (ADCs) as they function under the 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India,” said RTI activist Disparsing Rani.
Rani asserted that the State Government cannot hold mid-term election of the Council “as it is not authorized to publish the poll notification”.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Rani said that there was no such rule framed for conducting mid-term elections.
He informed about filing an application under RTI Act on March 9 seeking information if State Government is authorized to publish a notification for holding mid-term election.
