SHILLONG: with the improved condition of the Guwahati-Shillong highway and the Shillong Bye-pass, the instances of rash driving are also on the rise leading to many fatal accidents.
With increase in cases of reckless driving, the highway has become a nightmare for commuters.
Moreover, absence of proper hospitals and other medical facilities is also a cause of concern.
Half of the Shillong Bye pass is under the jurisdiction of East Khasi Hills police and Ri-Bhoi police. When contacted, police officials said that they do conduct checking on the road from time to   time.
