TURA: The GSU in Dadenggre has lauded the proposal of the State Government to set up a new police station at Damal Asim in the district.
“Damal A’sim has been used as a corridor for anti-social activities in the past endangering the safety of villagers. There have also been instances of cases going unreported as it is very far from Dadenggre Police Station. The setting up of a police station is very much needed in the area and we thank the government for fulfilling our long standing demand,” it said and urged the government to speed up the process.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement the GSU in North Garo Hills demanded that all mobile companies in the district upgrade their services with immediate effect. It demanded that more mobile towers are set up at remote villages as well as the up gradation of 2G to 3G and 4G in existing areas.
The union has also sought the intervention of the District’s Deputy Commissioner in the matter and warned that it would resort to agitation if their demand is unheeded by the companies.
Meanwhile, members of Association for Dadenggre Development comprising FKJGP AYWO ADE FAF AAYF and ASWA of Dadenggre expressed gratitude to Meghalaya CM for the positive response to their demands on the creation of Police outpost at Damal A’sim.
