Seminar
A two-day national seminar on ‘Re-interpretations of the Past: The Discourse of Cultural Identity in South Asia’ will be held at the NEHU Convention Centre, Shillong, on March 17-18. The seminar is being held in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, ICSSR New Delhi, ICSSR-NERC Shillong and MAKAIAS Kolkata.
Phawar Star
The Meghalaya Aids Control Society in collaboration with Treilang Welfare Society will present the 3rd annual Red Ribbon Phawar Star 2016 on March 17 at Umsning Auditorium Hall, Ri Bhoi, from 11 AM and at the KJP Conference Hall, IGP, Shillong, on March 22 from 12 noon onwards.
Civic action
123 Bn BSF under Jowai Sector organized a series of civic action programmes in remote villages of East Khasi Hills district including Beltoli, Ryngku, Pathaghat, Shella, Bholaganj, Kasinda and Phlangkaurah (Mullapara). The villagers were provided utensils, sports items, furniture etc.
Conclave
University School of Law and Research under the aegis of University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya is organizing the North East Law Graduates’ Conclave on March 16 at USTM campus, 9th Mile, Ri Bhoi. Former Chief Justice of India, Justice A.M. Ahmadi, and DC of Kamrup, Assam, M. Angamuthu, will attend the conclave.
Awareness
The office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills, in collaboration with Seng Samla Shnong Ranikor will organize an awareness programme cum cleaning drive on March 17 at Phudkroh Market area.
Programme
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong, recently organized a day long ‘Rajbhasa Sammelan’ at Youth Hostel Shillong. All together 55 participants along with officials took part in various competitions like singing and letter writing.
TPDS sugar
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills, has informed that ISS Grade Sugar 30 under TPDS for the month of October 2015 has been released and will be distributed through the respective fair price shops. The scale of issue for APL, BPL and AAY card holders for urban and rural areas is 3 kg per card at Rs 20 per kg.
