SHILLONG: DG (Prisons) B.L. Buam, who is the Chairman of the Central Recruitment Board, on Wednesday, informed that his son was disqualified by him even before the selected names were forwarded to the government for approval for the post of assistant jailor.
Paul Lyngdoh (UDP), while referring to the matter, had raised the issue of alleged nepotism in the Assembly on Tuesday.
In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, Buam admitted that his son had appeared for the post of assistant jailor but his name was not cleared by the chairman for appointment.
“The names forwarded to the government did not include his name as he had been disqualified by the chairman. Members of the public can check in the Meghalaya police website whether Roll no 251 of assistant jailor was forwarded to the government or approved by the government,” he said.
According to Buam, to charge the DG (Prisons) without checking the actual facts is hitting below the belt which is unfair.
