Sons lynch father to death

Agartala: Two brothers have beaten up their father to death for reportedly raping their sister and torturing their mother at East Kuchainala Gram Panchayat in Dhalai district.
According to police, after the murder on Tuesday the duo surrendered before the police and were sent to jail. Accused Bijoy Kumar Malakar and Rajkumar Malakar confessed the crime and stated that their father Rajendra Malakar, a 40-year-old alcoholic, used to torture their mother Sabita and raped their sister.
Irked with such inhuman behavior towards their mother and sister, the brothers made a plan to kill him. Accordingly, they beat him with a stick to death in the presence of Sabita and her daughter.
In another incident, a youth was arrested on the charge of setting a minor girl on fire for rejecting him at a remote village in Gomati District of south Tripura on Tuesday. He has been produced before a court on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Rahul Das, resident of Dhajanagar area of Udaipur, had poured kerosene on the girl and set her ablaze in the evening when she was alone in her house. Udaipur Women Police Station arrested him based on the complaint of the victim family. According to report, Rahul had proposed her and used to stalk her everyday. She, however, rejected his proposal several times and warned him to not disturb her. After being rejected, he took revenge by setting her on her.
Some of her neighbours took her to Gomati District Hospital from where the doctors referred her to Agartala Government Medical College for better treatment with 90 per cent burn injuries and is in a critical condition. (UNI)
