GSU meets vice-principal; seeks explanation

SHILLONG: The morning shift in Tura Don Bosco College has been abruptly winded up raising concerns from various NGOs as well as parents and teachers.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Manseng A. Sangma, Chief Adviser, GSU CEC, Tura met the vice-principal of Don Bosco College, (in-charge of higher secondary school) regarding the culmination of morning shift after NGOs received lots of concern from some parents and students themselves.
In the interaction with Vice-Principal, it was communicated to GSU that indeed the morning shift of the college is being ended due to many problems.
The Vice-Principal informed GSU that none of the students from morning shift will be left out and will be allowed admission in the day shift and so there is no question of students being disallowed admission and hunting for seats in different colleges.
Moreover, the morning shift students will have to pay the same admission fees as for the morning shift for their transition to day shift classes but however, the former morning shift students will have to wear uniforms in the dayshift. We discussed the financial constraints that some students may face for stitching a uniform.
The Vice-Principal informed that truly genuine cases will be considered and the institution itself will arrange for uniforms though not for all the students.
It may be mentioned that even a classroom is being added by the college to accommodate the higher number of students and GSU has assured that they will do our best to facilitate the transition of the morning shift students to the day shift classes in the Don Bosco College, Tura.
