BSF seizes logs, fish among others

SHILLONG: BSF troops deployed at Baghmara in South Garo Hills seized 53.05 cubic feet of logs worth approximately Rs 3.5 lakh while they were being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Simsang river.
In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Dumnikora in the district apprehended one Bangladeshi national while he was infiltrating into Indian territory.
The apprehended person was identified as Md Sahajahan Miya (40), resident of Lamukta village in Mymensing district of Bangladesh. The troops recovered 40 kg fresh fish, 5 kg dry fish and one mobile phone from his possession.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip off, troops of BOP Kapasipara, South Garo Hills, seized 12 cattle while they were being smuggled out to Bangladesh from India.
Besides, the BSF troops also seized 20 cattle, 140.46 cubic feet of wooden logs, 217 bottles of liquor and other contraband items worth more than Rs 11.7 lakh, while they were being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the international border last week.
