SHILLONG: In a shocking incident, the body of a 19-year-old girl, with alleged sexual and physical assault marks on the body, was recovered from 4½ Mile, Upper Shillong, on Thursday night.
According to local residents, on the fateful night the victim went out of the house to attend to nature’s call and went missing which prompted the family to launch a manhunt. The girl was found at around midnight at a jungle near their residence after which she was immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Since the body bore marks of sexual and physical assault, police termed it a possible rape case, but added that details would emerge only after the post mortem examination.
East Khasi Hills district police chief M. Kharkrang said police have obtained some clues and were working on the case.
